Leave well enough alone

   Posted by: Gemini   in Movies

I’m trying to get the nasty taste of bitter disappointment out of my mouth. There is far too much talent in movies to constantly remake films. Or at least I used to think there was.

I read this morning on Slice of SciFi that Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure has been tapped for a remake.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the yet another version of Dune has been confirmed on Slashdot. This one has been in the rumor mill for months and I had high hopes they wouldn’t do it.

We don’t need remakes, we need imagination. There are plenty of books that could be awesome films. Podcasts too, pieces like Playing for Keeps and Jack Wakes Up would be wonderful movies. We really don’t need remakes or re-imaging of movies do we? Thank gods the remake for Revenge of the Nerds was canceled.

What are your thoughts? What does and doesn’t need a remake? Have a book you’d like to see on film? Let us know, the comments are open.
