No, it’s not a new podcast that I decide to start discussing from the middle. It’s Obsidian related I promise.
Evo Terra, whom you may have heard from The Dragon Page and Winging It and may know as the co-creator of Podiobooks.com is the usurper of Obsidian for episode seven. His contribution is called Cult Cast #12.
It has a nice upbeat musical background and is discussing the impact of new media and the correct choice of words. Specifically he goes after the asinine statements that people can come up with using 140 characters or less. Gee… Twitter anyone?
Unlike the rest of the stories thus far, which all seem to take place shortly after the crisis in 7th Son, Cult Cast was done on June 14, 2008, bringing it into the current day. The impact is a solid one and honestly makes me think twice about what I say on Twitter.
The 7th Son link is a subtle one, which you actually would have had to listen to the trilogy to catch, but it’s certainly a good link to JC’s original story. As a short short the story comes in at under 8 minutes and is given in a rapid fire, no punch pulled fashion. It’s a fun little piece that actually takes you a step away from the focused panic that is induced by the rest of the Obsidian stories.
Even if you haven’t listen to 7th Son, Obsidian or anything else regarding this project in podcasting I think you should listen to this specific piece. It’s a nice lesson on what not to say, or at least how to speak what you mean, without looking like a thesaurus toting dork.
On that note, I think I’ve used too many words, let alone characters. Please don’t judge me, Evo!
